Google brings Gemini Spark agents to macOS and connected apps

Google said Gemini Spark is coming to the Gemini macOS app so users can automate tasks across desktop files and Google Workspace, such as sorting downloads or turning invoices into a budget spreadsheet. The company also previewed remote task execution from a phone, expanded connected apps to Google Tasks, Keep, Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals, and added custom Model Context Protocol support. Spark is also getting real-time topic tracking across blogs, news sites, social media, finance, shopping, weather, sports, and email.

Key details: Gemini Spark for macOS is launching in beta for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S., Spark is adding Tasks, Keep, Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals integrations, Google is adding custom MCP support and real-time topic tracking.

Why it matters: Spark is one of the clearest consumer tests of background agents moving from web demos into files, apps, permissions, and recurring tasks on a personal computer.
