Prometheus, the physical-AI startup co-founded by Jeff Bezos and former Verily co-founder Vik Bajaj, has raised $12 billion at a $41 billion valuation. Backers include Bezos, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and BlackRock. The company previously launched with $6.2 billion and now has about 150 employees across San Francisco, London, and Zurich. Prometheus calls its target an 'artificial general engineer': software intended to automate parts of designing and manufacturing complex physical systems, including jet engines and drug compounds. Little of the technology has been shown publicly, and a large portion of the new capital is expected to fund compute. The extraordinary financing makes this a major bet on AI moving from digital knowledge work into physical engineering.
